| One off, individual comics can be made, drawn and collated
from scratch. Alternatively the artwork can be professionally
printed into a unique, limited edition comic for each
child as a special souvenir of the workshops. |
| We can focus on perspective, volume, shading, dynamism,
panel layout, design, lettering, caricature, expressive anatomy,
speech bubbles, timing, humour, telling a story, character design and
development
|
| It doesn't have to be a comic in the traditional sense.
It could be a puzzle book, a recipe book, something non-fiction
(we've had a dinosaur encyclopedia and a history of airships
lately!) even a choose-your-own-adventure type comic. |
I’m always developing new workshops, here’s just a few:
Comic-making workshops
X-Ray Specs Making and secret code comics
The Crazy Comic Club Gameshow
Badge-making
Giant Comic Strip |
| This is just the tip of the iceberg. I use many specially developed learning aids, such as the Story Generator, which help structure the creativity. Please contact me for more details on workshops. |
| I am also available to hold incredibly, awesomely exciting
workshops at parties and events. All such brilliant fun
the kids don't even notice how much they're learning! |

For older children and teenagers I run more specific and advanced workshops, for example in Japanese manga comic art techniques. Manga is a very distinctive and hugely popular phenomenon. The visual language used to depict time, motion, setting and character in the telling of the story can be more complex than most ‘traditional’ Western Comics. I draw students’ attention to some of these differences and help them develop a recognisable manga ‘style’ in their own artwork, whilst letting them in on some of the tricks of the trade.
Please contact me for a more in depth overview of manga workshops. |
